Though current service is limited to the southern edge of the state, there's strong interest in expanding Amtrak routes in Iowa. Des Moines, Dubuque, and the Quad Cities have all been floated as potential future stops. These expansions would provide greater accessibility and encourage economic development through tourism and easier interstate connections. As national discussions about sustainable infrastructure continue, rail is making a comeback—and Iowa stands to benefit greatly from that revival.
